We cover Hertford town centre, Bengeo, Hertford Heath, Stapleford and the surrounding SG13 and SG14 postcode area, collecting you from home, school or work at a time that suits you.
Learners from this area use one of three test centres depending on availability:
Bishop's Stortford Driving Test Centre
Enfield Driving Test Centre
Stevenage Driving Test Centre
We prepare you for all three — your instructor will know the routes used from each centre and will make sure you're ready for whichever one your test is booked at.
Your instructor will know every road, junction and test route in the area before you ever sit your test.
Hertford is a historic market town with a fantastic variety of roads. Beginners typically start on the quieter roads in Bengeo and the residential streets around Port Vale and North Road, where you can build clutch control and basic skills without heavy traffic pressure.
As your confidence grows, your instructor will introduce the busier town-centre roads — Parliament Square, Fore Street, Hertingfordbury Road — and the Folly Island roundabout, which is a key feature of driving in Hertford that examiners frequently include on test routes.
The A414 Gascoyne Way provides excellent dual-carriageway experience. We'll make sure you're fully prepared for faster road driving well before your test day.
Parliament Square is one of the trickiest junctions in Hertford — busy, multi-directional, and frequently used on test routes. We practise it thoroughly until it feels routine.
Folly Island roundabout requires clear lane discipline and good observation. Your instructor will take you through it multiple times from different approaches until you're completely confident.
Gascoyne Way (A414) involves joining and exiting a dual carriageway — a key skill assessed at the Enfield and Stevenage test centres that Hertford learners typically use.
